Hello!

Welcome to our little blog of big adventures.

Welcome to Snowflakes and City Lights Travel.

We’re a family of three from Perth, Australia. My husband and I have been travelling together for 15 incredible years, 9 of those with our son. Our adventures have taken us to countless destinations, but Japan holds a special place in our hearts—we’ve returned five times and can’t wait to go back again!

Our travel style is a little bit of everything. We love city skylines, night markets, and museums just as much as we adore snow-covered landscapes and nature escapes. We’re budget-conscious travelers who make the most of our daily spends with street food and local markets, but we also understand the value of splurging on amazing experiences, must-see attractions, or accommodations in prime locations—especially since we’re tied to those school holiday schedules!

As a primary school teacher and parents to a school-aged child, we know the challenges of balancing budgets, work and family. So our blog aims to help other travelling families with inspiration and practical tips to make travel more accessible and enjoyable.

We use as many of our own photos as possible (even if they’re not professional-level!) because we believe in sharing authentic experiences. Sometimes, though, we rely on professional shots to capture the beauty of a place when our cameras can’t do it justice.

Whether you’re dreaming of your next adventure or looking for advice to plan a trip, we’re here to share our stories and help make your travel dreams a reality. We hope to inspire you to explore, discover, and embrace the joy of traveling—just like we do.
